a) how much do we miss 120 minutes?
b) one day I may have to explain to a child why I have strong feelings for this terrible song. Ah, 90s.

today my main squeeze saw my outfit and called me “miss professional” and I said “call me ball buster instead, puhleez.”
I am really into my new role at work.
Wardrobe Sadness
Whenever I get sad about my wardrobe — which is really only when I wear a great outfit and feel like none other will compare — I clean out my wardrobe.
If 1/3 of it is junk, then I am wasting time looking at junk, right? So I spent time today cleaning and weeding it out. Rotated some tshirts to “don’t wear in public tshirts” and threw things with holes away. Hung...
Home
I am back from a wonderful winter break. Spent Christmas in Paris, and New Years in Barcelona. Saw a lot, ate a lot, and talked a lot with my lovely spouse. Also read four books! I also ate so much gelato and drank so much espresso. What a beautiful trip.
So when I returned home, I made some family decisions with said spouse on life in 2012. I guess they could be “resolutions,” but...

Recently, GQ asked to interview me as Jean-Ralphio to discuss “gentlemanly etiquette.” I have never said yes to anything faster in my entire life. Thank you to Matt Margini from GQ for the interview and to Mike Schur (Showrunner of Parks and Rec) for answering my email- ”Are you cool with me doing…

I had a pretty sweet conversation with my boss today about me and my performance and where I can go next with it — in a job I’ve had for 4 months?

Still Love Me Anyway →
Today
Today I made potato soup from my friend’s grandparents’ potatoes. It was easily a top 10 soup of mine. Then the potato friend noted that I am skilled at making soups. A humble, yet warming skill. I love it!
I started taking vitamins today. And if I miss my yoga class because of work tomorrow, I’ll do some On Demand yoga. I used hand lotion and night time face cream tonight....

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
The internet is such a buzz over this book. Thus I’ve sacrificed this month’s book club funds to purchase and read.

Trying to be Resourceful
Right now, as we speak, I have a pot of “pantry chili” on the stove. Ingredients include things found in my pantry or fridge: 3 cans of beans (variety), 1 big can of tomatoes, onion from last week’s produce delivery, left over jalapenos from last night’s festivities, a can of diced roasted green chilis (because we ALWAYS have 2-3 cans in the house), sad mushrooms needing to...

Menu for the week
I think at some point last year, when I was unhappy and stressed with my old job, I told myself “I’m going to eat. And I’m going to eat what I like when I want it.” Which was cool - except I have expensive taste, I guess. I found ourselves spending a ridiculous amount of money on groceries for two people. More important, I was wasting a lot of food.
I do eat my leftovers...

JOB
Today I slept in 30 minutes BECAUSE I CAN because my first meeting is at 8:30 AM and I was working until 7:30 PM last night and my employer thinks I am an adult so KUDOS to me for finally growing up.
And I will be home before 6:00 PM tonight and that is a normal thing.

Things That Make Me Feel Old(ish)
In no particular order: JonBenet Ramsey would have been 21 this year.
Martha Stewart is turning 70.
This Promise Ring song with the lyrics “and I’ll be 24, and not any more” - and I recall thinking “ohh 24…”
Waiting to hear if you will be employed is a very, very stressful thing.
A Conversation I Had With My Cats
Me: Hi guys.
Them: Hey, Mom!
Me: So, I know you love me.
Them: We do! We do!
Me: But just so you know, I’d know you’d love me even without dead cockroaches on my bed.
Them: But we thought you’d like them!
Me: Not so much. Thanks though!
